Tool Design Engineer Tech, The Boeing Company

  • Member of the Equipment and Tool Engineering team responsible for designing Exterior Marking Templates and Reference Layout Templates for all wide-body Boeing aircraft.

  • Progressed from zero CATIA and AutoCAD experience to self-sufficient in less than one year.

  • Designed and released tool engineering drawings.

  • Designed and implemented a detailed training guide on exterior marking template design.

  • Trained tool design team members, and Boeing global partners, on the process of exterior marking template creation and release process.

  • Spearheaded a process improvement project to incorporate tool fabrication processes into tool design, in order to drastically reduce tool fabrication time.

  • Developed a tool in Microsoft Project to estimate and track time spent on entire tool design process, helping to forecast where and when to allocate resources.

  • Created necessary patterns and performed livery layout utilizing Paint Mylars and Exterior Marking Templates (EMT) and applied prescribed decorative paints and finishes to exterior of commercial aircraft models, 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787. 

  • Managed engineering changes as well as coordinated information with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Customers for incorporation of engineering changes, materials, and tools.

  • Collaborated and communicated with airline customers throughout pre-delivery process by addressing issues, in order to meet customer’s needs, and ensure a world-class livery. 

  • Derived specifications from Online Work Instructions, velocity, engineering drawings from CATIA V5 and ENOVIA and computer aided design tools, in order to meet customer specifications. 

  • Experienced in obtaining and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches.

  • Incorporated excellent communication and customer focus skills, along with the ability to proactively collaborate with others and made decisions as a team on a daily basis 

  • Proven ability to take on large assignments with short delivery times while working in a high stress environment. 

  • Controlled viscosity and adhesive qualities of paint by the proper application of solvents to compensate for prevalent atmospheric condition. 

  • Appointed Safety focal for Everett Modification Center Bay 4. Lead a monthly safety meeting, and perform monthly shop inspections in order to meet Boeing and Occupational Safety and Health Association requirements. Also acted as a liaison between employees and management to alleviate any safety concerns. 

  • Served as the Employee Involvement Project Manager for a lean initiative to reduce 747-8 lower wing stencil process; enhancing stencil quality and reducing flow time by five hours per aircraft.

  • Trained and mentored new employees to become familiar with the appropriate painting process.
